Sukhasana the Easy pose


Yoga Tips
It is the easiest, and simplest asana that can be performed very comfortably by the beginner of all ages.

Technique
After sitting on a mat or dari on the floor in your usual ordinary way by keeping the feet below your thighs try to proceed in the following way

. stretch both of your legs in front of you

. hold the toe of a leg with your hand and place it below the thigh of your other leg.

. now bend the other leg at the joint of the knee and place it on the other thingh.

. now place the palm of the hands on the knees in the way as allowing full rest to the both the elbows 

. keep your head and body especially the spinal chord straight.

. see that you do not feel any inconvenience. In this Asana the hands, legs and backbone are supported. Hence you can sit comfortably in this asana for a long period as required for the meditation or recitation of mantra etc.
Benefits

On can gain the following benefits by the regular doing of the Sukhasana.
. It can rectify the wrongs or improperness resulted through the adoption of wrong and improper postures.

. It can help in getting activated the joints of the lower parts of the body resulting in keeping them flexible and doing away with any improperness or defect arising in them for some reason.

. It helps in regularizing the digestive and blood circulation processes of our body.

. It helps to straighten the spine, slow the metabolism and still the mind.

. It may serve as the practice seat for the yogic activities like pranayama, mudras, dharana and dhyana.

Yogic Activities

  1. One needs to consume less time, energy and resources for angaging and getting benefited through these activities. In addition to provide enough time we need essential resources in terms of equipments, play grounds, gymnasium, etc. for helping us in performing these activities, As a result it proves quite costly in terms of time, money and labour for being engaged in these activities.
  2. One needs a quite simple, non-costly food items (Satvik meal) for doing yogic activities. Access to such common and non costly food items usually does not cause much problem to even for the common persons having limited means.
  3. One can procced quite independently for getting engaged in the yogic activities without seeking special assistance and need of any unavoidable men – material resources.
  4. There is no restriction of any kind in terms of the age, gender, physical conditions of the body etc in performing the yogic activities. The physical weakness or ailments of any kind also do not pose any hindrance in the path of performing these activities. Instead of it, it is a common practice to make use of the yogic activities for gettingrid of the physical and mental weakness
Non Yogic Activities

  1. We need more time, energy and means for engaging and getting benefited through these activities. In addition to provide enough time we need essential resources in terms of equipments, play grounds, gymnasium, etc. for helping us in performing these activites, As a result it proves quite costly in terms of time, money and labour for being engaged in these activities.
  2. One needs to consume more diet and spend more on the food items for gaining energy to get engaged in the non-yogic activites. It may many times not be easier for the individuals to have access to such costly diet.
  3. In doing non-yogic activities like playing games, doing exercises and gymnastics one has to rely completely on the assistance, collaboration and supply of men material resources.
  4. Non-yogic activities can not be performed easily and conveniently by all persons of all ages, gender and physical conditions. It is quite difficult and many times impossible on the part of the weak, plder and ill persons for getting engaged in the non-yogic activities. Similarly the execution

what is yoga


The world 'yoga' refers primarily to our age - old spiritual tradition intended to overcome the narrow sense of individual selfhood, though its usage ranges from the very general to the specific and highly technical. Etymologically the word yogahas been derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, which implies a yoke, the resulting complex is greater than the sum of its parts. It also means "to add, join, merge, integrate or unite" . In its other conceptual meanings the word yoga also carries out the sense that of "mode, manner, or means" and expedient, or means in general" in the light of its derivation root and the attached meanings, a number of scholars have tried to define the term yoga in a number of ways. Let us try to reproduce a few significant ones out of them.

1. Maharishi patanjali has asserted in his classical book Yoga Sutra (2nd-3rd century B.C) that : ‘’Yoga Chitta Vritti Nirodha’’ which means ‘’ Yoga is the suspension of the modifications of the mind or the cessation of mental fluctuation’’ or’’ The withdrawal of sense organs from the worldly objects and their control is yoga‘’. Defined as such Yoga helps an individual to exercise restraint on his body and mind by keeping him away from the allurements of Roop, Ras, Gandha, Sparsh and Savad.

2. According to the ancient Yoga scripture, Vyasa’s Yoga- Bhashya, Yoga is ecstasy (the samadhi), ‘’- auniversal truth and form of the Chitta (mind).

3. In the words of Maharishi Yagyavalkya “The integration or merger of the soul with the Greater soul is termed as Yoga.

4. In Bhagvadgita, while explaining the meaning of the term Yoga to Arjun, Lord Krishna says, “The integration or union of the soul and greater soul is Yoga. “Latter on in the chapter six of this text, he asserts “Doing a task successfully comes in the domain of Yoga.’’

5. In the words of a great scholar and writer Dr. Georg Feuerstein, “yoga is the generic name for the various Indian paths of ecstatic self – transcendence, or the methodical transmutation of consciousness to the point of liberation from the spell of ego-personality.

Yoga helps in providing checks and pulls for exercising proper control over the fluctuations of our mind or greediness of our sensual desires.

Yoga plays an important role in the purification of our thoughts and feelings by winning over the evil intentions.

Yoga can help us to be the master of an infinite energy.
